Book Marketing Secrets

May 31, 2008

My biggest book marketing secret is that the profit is NOT in the books. It’s in everything that comes after the books! I’m suggesting that no matter what kind of a book you’ve written, if you’re looking for book marketing secrets, this is it: produce some info products. Doing so will allow you to upsell people who buy your book. Make sure you have a way to capture their names once they buy your book and then have a system set up to sell them everything else you have.

Marketing Information Products

May 31, 2008

Marketing information is fun! You can take your knowledge about a given subject and turn it into CASH. What a country! Marketing information products is key to the success of any author, speaker or consultant. Anyone of these three groups should be actively marketing information products. Not just their own, but these groups should also be looking to sell other people’s information products. If you want to make more money and get better results as an author, speaker or consultant, then start marketing info products. It works!

Info Product Creation Strategy

May 31, 2008

As an information marketer, I have a goal. I want to have more solid, useable info products that I own the rights to than anyone else on the planet. Selling information has always been my passion. In order to win the game that I’m describing, I have to be a prolific info product creator. You may or may not know that Michael Jackson owns the entire Beatles library. Whenever a Beatles song gets played, Michael gets paid. I want to to the same with information products. I want to have so many info products that it will be almost impossible for me not to make money. My suggestion to you is that you try and create a ton of info products in your field. That way, you too will keep getting paid.

Info Product Systems

May 30, 2008

Every information product marketer MUST have a few different systems in place to make their info products business GO!

1. A system to write your books and ebooks. I use a very simple system where I create an outline and then fill in the blanks.

2. A system for producing audio programs. I do my audio info products the same way each and every time. I would suggest you find a system that you can repeat for every info product you creat.

3. A system for producing video programs. Again. I do it the same way each time. You should as well. Marketing information videos isn’t that hard, but you’ll need a repeatable SYSTEM.

4. A system to take order and do all of your ecommerce functions. I use www.WebMarketingMagic.com. This is my own proprietary software that is a one stop solution for any and everything any serious info product marketer must have.

5. A system for tracking your revenue and expenses. Info products are great to sell, but like any other business, you need a system for doing the basic accounting elements.

There are more, but that’s all for now!

Information Product Traffic Generation

May 30, 2008

There are a variety of ways to generate traffic for your information product business. In order to make it easy when I do an info product seminar I break it up into: PAID and UNPAID; ON and OFFLINE methods.

Here’s how I see it. None of the techniques I show you will be worth a damn if you don’t use them. So step number one is to look at all of the various techniques and ask yourself what you would find fun and easy to do to promote your info product business.

In the area of PAID traffic generation (online) for your info products I would suggest a few courses: 1) Google Adwords; 2) Yahoo paid search; 3) MSN paid search and 4) Select advertising in Ezines.

In the area of PAID traffic generation (offline) for your info products I can only recommend that you send postcards and test other direct mail to your existing list. I would send to both buyers and non buyers. Make sure to test small. There is no quicker way to kill an information marketing business than to run out of cash to pay for your various means of marketing.

In the area of UNPAID (online) efforts the two that I would suggest for marketing your info products would be: 1) Search Engine Optimization and 2) Online PR like PR Web. I have found both of these to be tremendously helpful to me. They are both topics that I will discuss in DEPTH in future issues of this information marketing blog. So stay tuned.

As far as UNPAID (offline) methods of promoting your info products business, the best one in my opinion is to speak at other peoples seminars and events. I have done extremely well doing that. If I don’t sell people any of my own information products at the event, I inevitably capture a LOT of names.

Now, go do something!

Info Product Coaching

May 30, 2008

I have blogged about info product coaching before, but I need to revisit the topic. Recently, I got an email from someone who had spent a few thousand dollars with someone only to get virtually nothing! This is not atypical. There are plenty of people out there willing to be your information product coach. They’ll take your money, talk to you a few times over the phone and then? See ya later!

I got so sick of people coming to my info product events that I decided to do a lot more of my week long events. This way I could be SURE that someone would leave with a completed system for selling information products at the end of that week.

We’ve now done 5 of them and all have been tremendously helpful to the information marketing bootcamp attendees. They got: 1) a good niche selected; 2) a domain name reserved; 3) their online shopping cart set up; 4) their website copy completed; 5) an information product to sell – an audio and 6) a system to market the info product created exclusively for them. All this in one week.

So if you want compressed info product coaching and you can’t wait to get started, I suggest an option like this one. You’ll be glad you did.

Information Product Coaching Options

May 30, 2008

If you’re looking for someone to coach you get into and/or succeed as an information product marketer, then here are some tips to follow:

1. Make sure that people have actually done what they teach. There are all kinds of people out there claiming they can help you build in information marketing business. Be suspicious. VERY suspicious. Ask to see the data and their results.

2. Make sure that the info marketing coach can TEACH. Many people are fairly good at what they do, but can’t teach it worth a darn. How do you know? Read their materials. Go through some of their info products. That should be a sure sign of whether or not they can teach.

3. Spend some time with the before you get started. A non-negotiable pre-requisite of mine for coaching someone in the field of information products field is that they come to one of my Fred Info Bootcamps. This allows me (and them) to have a full week to determine if we are a good match.

4. Integrity is critical. If your gut tells you something is wrong with a particular info product marketer, then go with your gut. For as long as I’ve been marketing and selling information, I’ve seen a ton of people who play fast and loose with the facts. Make sure and thoroughly vet anyone you consider coaching you in the info products business.

5. Make sure you have a personality match. It’s not just about competence. You have to get along with the person who is coaching you in the information marketing field. Without a good match in that area, you will not succeed. How do you figure out if there is a match. Again, spend some time with the person and look at them from every perspective not just their skills or knowledge as an information marketer.

Hope these help!

Info Products Success

May 30, 2008

One of the reasons why I’ve been successful in the information marketing business is because of the fact that I have a lot of solid, useable content. Much of that I GIVE away for free. I suggest you do the same. Give away great stuff and people will only assume that you’ve got more great stuff to give or SELL!

Many people are worried to give their info products away. My question is why? I have been producing and marketing information products for 25 years. I am never at a loss for ideas or additional product ideas. To be making good money selling info products you have to be prolific in your product production.

Produce as much solid content as you can and make sure what you give away is as good as anything you sell. Information marketers are notorious for trying to sell you a product which doesn’t deliver anything more than a sales pitch. Don’t be one of “those” info marketers!

Internet Marketing Information for Network Marketers

May 30, 2008

I’ve never been a big fan of network marketing. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think it’s all a bunch of crap, just 99% of it. BUT, for those network marketers who are selling a great product, I like to help. Internet marketing techniques can significantly improve their recruiting efforts.

As an information marketer myself, I am not too involved with network marketers. I do help these folks to improve their internet marketing results by getting them to create information products that relate to their product or service that they sell.

Here’s how I see it. You can get very qualified recruits for your business by offering the right free information products. Try it if you’re a network marketer. This is my single biggest “secret” for internet marketing for Network marketers.

Ways to Make Money Selling Information Products

May 30, 2008

There are LOTS of ways to make money selling information products. By saying this I’m telling you that you can not only make money selling the info products yourself, but also by recommending them to others. In fact, many people (including myself) have found that selling info products authored by others is easier to do. People are more apt to buy when they feel that you are not the ultimate beneficiary of their purchase. Strange but true.

Every time I send out an ezine promoting my own information products, I get a decent response. BUT, when I send out an blast to my list promoting someone who I’ve decided to joint venture with, I often get DOUBLE the response rates.

What’s the moral of this story? In addition to promoting your own info products you also need to find other people who you know and trust and promote their information products.

Like I said, there are MANY ways to make money selling information products.

I have a licensed piece of software. It’s www.Webmarketingmagic.com. I get paid every month by offering this great piece of software to my list. This is another great information product to sell: software.

Don’t get caught in the box of selling just your own info products. Sell select other people’s as well. Also, software has been VERY GOOD TO ME.
