Marketing Seminars

June 3, 2008

If you market and promote your own seminars and events, you need to know THIS critical formula:

TR=SR+PS+CB

Total revenue as a seminar marketer is equal to Seminar Registration plus Product Sales plus Coaching or Consulting Business. There you have it the KEY to marketing and promoting your own seminars in a formula.

Seminar registration at your events is done through a variety of means. In my case, I’ve built an email list to market and promote my events. I suggest you do likewise. It will certainly cut your costs for doing event.

Product Sales can be tricky for the ethical person doing seminar marketing. They are always concerned that they will be perceived as “hucksterish” for doing it. Not true if you deliver good solid content FIRST.

Then there is the coaching or consulting business. This should flow logically from the seminar that you do. Don’t push it. People will recoil and NOT buy your services.

Try and make it to one of my events like the Seminar on Seminars to really perfect your skills.

Free Content for the Info Product Marketer

June 3, 2008

Most info product marketers don’t spend too much time thinking about the free content they provide. Not good. Creating free content is one of the ways to turn your information marketing business into a REAL money maker. Those who sell info products for a living realize that the free content that you give away is critical to long term success.

Many aspiring information marketers are very hesitant to give away good, solid content. There major fear is that they will “use up” what they have and not be able to sell anything else.

I heard a guy speaking at an information marketing seminar who said: “We give our best information away for free.” Wow. What a concept. The fear on the part of many info product folks is the fact that they fear they will not have anything left.

My feeling is this. If you like your topic and are sincerely interested in it, you will ALWAYS have something to say and something to sell. Why? Because NEW things are happening all the time. Information marketing is NOT a static field. Each time I do one of my information marketing bootcamps the knowledge that I share changes. Why? Because the field of info products changes rapidly. Be sure you are keeping up with it all!

Information Marketing

June 3, 2008

Information marketing refers to any and all intellectual property that you can put together having to do with your field of expertise. This includes, but is not limited to: reports, white papers, ebooks, books, audios, videos, seminars, bootcamps and experiential events.

If you are a serious information products marketer, then you need to be figuring out how to create some of each of the above items. One of the big problems with professional speakers is that they tend to produce a few of the items above. Those who sell info products for a living know this is not enough.

Want to learn how to do all of these? It’s infinitely easier if you can find a competent info products coach to help you figure things out. Take a look at my information marketing bootcamp to help you figure out if it’s right for you.

Info Product Coaching

June 3, 2008

I was just on the phone with a Search Engine Wizard. She gave me some great advice and reminded me of a key element that you should understand as information marketer. When you are considering getting some info product coaching, make sure to look at the year the person’s website was started. You can check my main site: www.FredGleeck.com. It was started in 1996. If you’re looking for an information marketing coach, take a look at when THEIR site got going. This is ONE element that should be factored into the decision of who to choose. Get information marketing coaching from the RIGHT person!

Ecommerce Solution

June 2, 2008

If you’re selling info products then you will definitely need an ecommerce solution. I have been using www.WebMarketingMagic.com for close to 10 years. I met the developer many years ago. I know the guy and I know that he knew what he was doing.

There are some key things you need to look for in an ecommerce solution. Here they are:

* Unlimited Auto-responders. You need this because it’s crucial to your success as an information marketer.

* Shopping Cart. Every ecommerce solution must have a shopping cart. This is an absolutely necessary component of ANY solution.

* Ad Trackers. Ad trackers allow you to know where a click came from and whether or not someone bought when they got to a site. Critical information to know.

* Ebook Module: Deliver your digital products including e-books with virtually NO effort.

* Client Database System:  Keep all your customers records in one place sortable by a variety of fields.

* Broadcast Module:  Allows you to send out a message to any segment of your database quickly and easily.

* Forms Module:  Create a form for a variety of purposes (including surveys) quickly and easily.

* Affiliate Module:  Set up and accurately track others who want to sell your products.

* Coupon Module:  Create urgency for your offers using either a time element or a specified number of units.

* Tell a Friend Module:  Get others to refer people to your site with a few clicks of the mouse.

All of these elements are critical to your success and I highly recommend you take a look at: www.WebMarketingMagic.com

Good luck!

Ebook Writing Skills

June 2, 2008

Want to learn how to perfect your book writing skills? It’s possible. I don’t care how poor a writer you are, you can do it. I DID! I was a pretty average (to below average) writer. My Dad was a writer and that’s why I got into the professional speaking business, to not have to compete.

What I realized was that as a professional speaker you can get so many more gigs if you write books. People will perceive you as more knowledgeable and credible. That being the case, I set out to LEARN how to write books, specifically ebooks, much better.

Step #1 to make this happen: WRITE, WRITE and then WRITE some more!

Nothing will perfect your ebook writing better than practice. I spend anywhere from an hour to three hours a day writing. I suggest you do the same.

Step #2: Learn your subject matter inside and out

You’ll be able to write better the better you know your topic and subject.

Step #3: Find a good mentor

Without someone to help you, your chances for success are minimal.

Info Marketing Coach

June 2, 2008

If you’re looking for the best AND the right info marketing coach there are 5 critical things you need to know about anyone you’re auditioning for the job.

1. Do they really do what they teach? My God, there are people out there who used to be actors attempting to convince you they are the right info marketing coach. Get real folks! I have been doing improv comedy for years, but that doesn’t make me a natural for Second City. So, don’t be fooled by people who USED to be one thing and are now magically something else.

2. Can they produce a VOLUME of info marketing products they’ve done for themselves or others to PROVE they really know how to produced and market info products?

3. Can they teach? Doing is one thing, teaching is another. Tiger Woods is the best GOLFER. He’s never claimed to be the best golf TEACHER. Two different skills. The only way to find out is to go to one of their events. Try coming to one of my information marketing workshops to check ME out!

4. Do you like the person? If you don’t have a good feeling and/or relationship with the person who is helping you, the results will be weak, at best.

5. Does the person have a high integrity quotient? The only way to find this out is to ask others who have worked with the individual. My info products business is NOT all about the money. Money is great, but my information marketing business revolves around ETHICALLY building and info products empire.

There you have it. Now use it!

Writing an Ebook

June 2, 2008

One of the fastest ways to get an info product out the door is to write an ebook. You can either write it yourself or pay someone else to write it. The single BIGGEST key to your success is a detailed outline of your content and knowledge.

Depending on what you’re going to use the ebook for you can make it more or less “fancy”. Any intelligent information products marketer will have ebooks as one of the elements in their info products arsenal.

If your audience is strictly looking for content you don’t need to do anything more than take a Microsoft Word file and turn it into a PDF document. You don’t even have to put a cover on the ebook. If you’re going to sell your ebook to a market that needs to see an attractive cover on it, then you’ll probably have to pay someone to do that or do it yourself.

Writing an ebook should be the front end of any information marketers product funnel. The problem is that many people get obsessed with making their ebook perfect. As I’ve always said, done is better than perfect. Many writers and authors want to make their ebook error free. Bad idea. Most authors will spend countless hours trying to make sure everything is JUST RIGHT in their ebook.

If you’re interested in making some real money, crank out your ebooks. Warts and all. You can fix them later. BUT, you’ll be fixing them with money in your checking account.

Book Writing Coach

June 2, 2008

There are a lot of people out there who claim to be experts at coaching you on how to write a book. Many of them are completely full of hot air!

The first thing you have to do when thinking about hiring a book writing coach is: WHAT DO YOU WANT THEM TO DO FOR YOU?

1. Get you an agent?

2. Get you a publisher?

3. Help you through the process of actually writing?

4. Get you listed with the wholesalers?

To me, all of these questions are superfluous. The single most important question to ask a book writing coach is: CAN YOU HELP ME MAKE MORE MONEY? Ask them!

If they give you a puzzled look . . .  MOVE ON!

There are a lot of barely scraping by writers who have turned themselves into “book sheppards.” Got to love that name. It reaks of new age horsecrap! Most of these folks have a vague idea of how to get your book written, but unless you’re writing the book to get a warm feeling inside, you better ask them some tough questions.

I have helped a lot of people write books. But there’s a big difference. My help has been to get them to create a PUBLISHING BUSINESS in which ONE STEP of the process is book writing. If you don’t care about making money, be a sheep and get a sheppard. If you want to make more cash, come talk to me!

Book Writing Tip

June 2, 2008

I read a lot. I read a WHOLE lot. Usually about 2 or 3 books a week. Some fiction, some non-fiction, but I’m always reading. I’ve written a number of books as well. From all of this reading and writing I’m seeing a trend. Take a look at Seth Godin’s book “The Dip” or Maria Shriver’s latest book called: “Just Who Will You Be?”

The first thing you notice if you pick either of these books up in a bookstore is that they are both REALLY short. You shouldn’t be surprised. We live in an MTV generation. People want their information or entertainment and they want is FAST. They want it NOW! They want it spoon fed!

Both of these books do a tremendous job of doing just that.

The tip that I give you is to copy what they have done. The trend in business how-to books and self help will be in the direction of smaller and more condensed. Single topics. Easy to read. Quick to finish.

If you’re in the process of writing a book yourself, this is my advice: KEEP IT SHORT!
