Information Marketing Techniques
July 17, 2008
There are many very important information marketing techniques you need to use if you want to be a successful info product marketer.
One of the most important information marketing techniques is understanding the importance of a squeeze page. This is a page where you attempt to get people to give you their email address.
People are becoming more and more wary of giving up their personal info. Who can blame them. They get unethical information marketers who barage them with all kinds of crap after they sign up.
This information marketing technique is critical to your success.
Testing is the only way you’ll know which type of squeeze page will work for your market.
There are two basic types of squeeze pages. Those with long copy and those with short copy. Which one should you use? The one that works. Easy to say but it’s 100% accurate.
Try them both out on your visitors and see which one closes the greatest percentage of people to opt in to you list. After a sufficient number of people who visit, it will be easy to see which works best. Use that one for your list.
Remember, it will vary depending on your market. There is no ONE right way for all markets.
Information Marketing Secrets
July 16, 2008
I will frequently get asked if there are any reall secrets in the information marketing business. The answer is yes AND no.
There are certainly some ideas that few people who market and sell information products are using. If that’s the criteria for deciding if something is a secret, then I guess there are some information marketing secrets.
In reality, it’s all about having a system in place to market and sell your information products.
So when people ask me about information marketing secrets I first ask them if they have their SYSTEMS in place. Without systems, any secrets are useless.
Assuming your information marketing business HAS the systems in place then I suppose you can talk about a number of secrets that exist.
The BIGGEST secret of information marketing is that you make money from your list. Build a list of buyers and potential buyers and you’ll be set for life. The majority of online marketers are pretty haphazard with list building.
They get names but they rarely cultivate them properly.
How many times have you gotten on a list only to be BOMBARDED with offers every other day. This is not the way to build a list and a relationship with a list. So, the biggest secret is to build a list by FEEDING them with valuable content on a regular basis.
Information Marketing Products

Whenver I do a seminar or speak at an event, people are always asking me about which information marketing products they should create and market.
My answer is the eventually you need to have a LINE of information products related to your topic. The reason for this is that people learn using different modalities of learning.
Some people like to read as their primary means of getting knowledge. For those folks you will need to produce books and ebooks.
Other folks prefer to learn by listening. They are audio learners. For them you’ll want to have your material available in audio form. Whether it’s traditional CD audios or mp3s in either physical or downloadable form you’ll want to have your info products available in this form to satisfy them.
Still other folks want to learn via video. These folks need to be given video material in order for them to learn. This will require that you produce videos that relate to your topic. This isn’t easy the first few times you do it, so I suggest you get help from a professional the first few times.
You’ll also want to have your material available in experiential form. This means you’ll need to produce seminars and events to train people in the info products area where you are an expert.
Produce your info products using all the different modalities and you’re on your way to a successful info products business.
Information Marketing Business
July 15, 2008
An information marketing business is VERY different than an information marketing hobby. In one instance you are doing something just for fun. In the other you are trying to generate a profit.
Creating a sustainable information marketing business requires that you establish and keep systems.
There are a number of systems you will need to have. When I first got started marketing information products online, I ended up with a mish mash of different kinds of software.
Luckily there is now a place where you can get it all together in one place. The place to find it is at www.WebMarketingMagic.com. This one piece of software will handle any and every need of a new or established information product marketer.
You’ll find:
An online shopping cart
An autoresponder system
A digital delivery system
A built in affiliate module
A digital delivery module
All of these elements are essential to running your information products business. AND, it’s a whole lot easier to get them in one package as opposed to trying to get all the necessary components from different providers.
Additionally, you’ll want to have a place to reserve your domain names. I highly recommend that you use: www.UltraCheapDomains.com. You’ll get the best prices and you’ll be very happy with their service.
To get your information marketing business off the ground, these are some of the basic items you will need.
How to Sell Information Products on the Internet
July 14, 2008
Learning how to sell information products on the internet can be time consuming and difficult. There is so much information out there and the question is: WHO DO YOU BELIEVE?
I’ve been selling information products both on and offline for many years and want to give you the basics of the system that has worked for me.
First, you need to make sure that there is a market for what you want to sell. If no one wants to buy your products, it won’t matter how good they are.
To figure this out you need to google some of the keywords or keyword strings that people would use to search for what you’d be selling.
See if there is anything else out there on the topic. If there is, don’t worry, that’s a good sign.
You’re looking for enough people out there who are looking and combining that with not too much competition. It’s fine if there are a few people out there selling what you intend to sell, but if the field is flooded with competitors, you need to look elsewhere.
When you decide to go ahead and create your information products, make sure they are good. Remember that the big money will come from getting people who bought your initital product to buy MORE from you.
This is the key to selling information products on the internet. You will make your really big money from people who buy from you again and again and again.
Keep that in mind as you learn how to sell information products on the internet.
Learn Information Marketing
July 5, 2008
Information marketers need to get training. They need to stay current with the latest info product trends. To make this happen, make sure and go to at least 1 or 2 info marketing events each year.
I go to a lot of them myself. Many times I’m disappointed. Some of the times I’m delighted, but that’s rare. Most seminars/bootcamps are all about finding a way to get you to part with your money, not educating you. I have NO problem with people sellilng things at seminars but not as a substitute for giving people some REAL, USEABLE content.
I’ve got my event coming up on this topic in September. It’s the Fred Info Bootcamp. It’s very different because we have a maximum of 6 people in the group. Each person leaves with a product completed, the web copy done, the website up and ready to sell.
Very different from others who do training like this. I hope you can make it!
Take Care of Your Voice
July 5, 2008
If you do any speaking at all, you NEED to take care of your voice. Take it from me! One of my revenue streams is speaking. Speaking at both my own events and those that others produce is responsible for about 15% of my revenue each month/year.
Here are some key elements to take care of your voice:
1. Don’t YELL! Ever. Even if your dog has had a MAJOR accident when you left the house for an hour (this happened to me recently). Raising your voice puts massive strain on your vocal cords. For those of your who are sports fans, be careful. Going to a game in person is a killer. You’re tempted to scream your brains out. Resist that temptation to save your voice.
2. Don’t consume drinks with caffeine and alcohol in them before or during the event. I can’t tell you the technical medical reasons for why this is true, but I KNOW that it IS. If you want to do either, do it AFTER your event is finished.
3. Lubricate your vocal cords when speaking. Make sure to have some ROOM TEMPERATURE water around you at all times when speaking. Think of it like oil in your car. Vocal cords that are not watered during a presentation will be strained a LOT more. Have the water nearby at all times and MAKE yourself have some during a presentation. NO ice water please.
4. Don’t cough hard. If you have to cough, grumble it out slowly without any big hacks. This is hard to describe, but I think you can picture what I mean here.
If you do any speaking at all, make sure to remember these four points. They will save your vocal cords and your money with doctors later.
How to Sell Information Products On the Internet

Selling information on the internet is the way to go!
People in various kinds of offline businesses always ask me what I do for a living. Here’s how I answer that question: “I create market and sell my knowledge in various forms. I also coach others to do the same.” After finishing I’m usually looking at blank stares.
I think the reason is the only a select group of people UNDERSTAND that you don’t need to have a tangible product to sell something. Although it’s true that I have PHYSICAL products like DVDs, CDs and books that I sell, I also sell a lot of digital products that are simply electrons.
YOU can do the same.
Take the knowledge that you have about a given subject and turn it into cash.
Here’s a recent example. My neighbors, Chris and Kim had their in-laws over for a birthday party a week or so ago. I asked Chris’ dad what he did. He told me that for the last 40+ years he had been a court reporter. As I queried him further I discovered what he LOVED to do.
He is an AVID Elvis collector.
He owns a LOT of Elvis Presley memorabilia. Some of it VERY valuable. (You know those Elvis fans!) If you don’t they are hardcore bunch.
I was then informed that HE was one of a handful of people who is always asked (often before an auction) to authenticate Elvis signatures. WOW!
So after talking to him for a while I suggested that I give him (he is my neighbor’s father - so no SALE here) one of my programs on Information Product Marketing for him to listen to. I just happened to have one sitting around.
I suggested that he think about how he could turn his “hobby” into even more cash. Currently, he buys and then often resells memorabilia making a nice profit. I asked him how many people he thought would be interested in learning how to do what he does. He told me he gets asked about it all the time.
He now taking the time to put together an outline on the topic which WE will sell to people online. There you have it.
Free Ebooks
July 1, 2008
One of the most effective ways to build a list for your info products business is by using FREE ebooks. For close to three years I’ve used the site: www.FredGleeck.com/ebooks to do just that.
I have 5 books worth over $100 that I give away for Free at that location. Feel free to tell you friends about that site.
Why do I do this? Aren’t I losing money by GIVING AWAY books? Actually not. The key is to understand that free ebook give aways are a great way to build your list. After all, it’s your single biggest asset in your info products business!
Most authors are BRAIN DEAD. They don’t get the fact that the REAL money comes from selling everything that you sell AFTER your book. Concentrate on JUST selling books and you’ll make very little money. Instead, do what I do. Give your books away in ebook form.
Do this and you’ll build a big list in your field. Then you can sell them the more expensive items and make the BIG money!
