Most of my clients and customers have been involved in their own business or profession for a long time. I’m not saying that I don’t or I won’t work with people who are selecting their topic and beginning to focus on it in order to create information products, not at all. I enjoy helping new information marketers get started. It’s a kick to help them succeed beyond their first, tentative expectations.
But busy, successful entrepreneurs often gravitate to my speaking engagements and my seminars and bootcamps. They simply have to get it in order to continue to prosper. And they have learned that information marketing can make the past new again.
They may have been spending big bucks on print, yellow page and newspaper and TV advertising in the past, and they have watched those traditional methods of promoting themselves deteriorate. The internet has changed traditional advertising forever, and they absolutely have no choice but to make the transition as quickly as possible.
Information marketing can revive the threatened and sagging incomes of people who have become accustomed to higher incomes, and who see that mining their past experiences and accomplishments by creating new info products is the way to go.
Another way my clients and customers often mine their pasts to build their futures is by becoming a speaker. They discover that what they have to share is interesting and valuable to other people, and that speaking engagements generally spawn sales of their info products. It’s a great combination that has worked well for me for many years.
