New Tactics for Link Building
One thing that seems to be growing more and more important for search engine optimization and page ranking, is the quality of links coming into your websites. Google and other search engines analyze the visitors to your sites and rank them, in a manner of speaking, in order to rank you. That’s why it is really important to pay attention to all the new tactics for link building.
Wordtracker is a world-class organization that teaches and provides programs for link building. Ken McGaffin of Wordtracker posted a list of new tactics this month, so they are certainly fresh from an authority now. Here are a few of the tactics he included in his list, with my comments:
1. “Focus on quality link prospects. … the harder a link is to get, the more value it has, so the extra effort required is worth it.” This is probably the most significant change from the way SEO worked in the past, and that’s what makes it the #1 point McGaffin makes in his post. We have to be thinking about quality at every step.
2. “Focus local (at least for some of the time.)” This is definitely a close second to point #1 above. The reason is that Google and other search engines are particularly fond of matching local results to each user. All the search engines lean in the direction of geographic relevance, so that means we have to make sure our sites have some local quality links, too.
3. “Build relationships.” This one is a no-brainer, for any information marketing business. Actually, it’s incredibly important for any business, online or offline.
