Howard Stern says he sucked until he was 28. He says that when he first started he was “awful” on the radio. He got a lot better over time and now might even get to take Simon Cowell’s spot on American Idol.
This means that practice definitely makes perfect!
Howard Stern is perfect? You or I may not think that is the correct adjective, but no can deny that he is a great producer of audio content.
Again, the word “great” may be in dispute!
All this means is that no matter how bad you are at something, you can get better by practicing.
I’ve now done well over 2,000 audio interviews. Over time, I’ve gotten better.
Want to get better doing your own audio product?
Even if you don’t have a product to produce, just pull a book off the shelf and read aloud. Do it for 15 minutes a night. When you first start, it will tire you out.
Try it!
BTW, you don’t need to have high quality audio production gear to produce audio products. Your computer, with it’s built in mic and a program like Audacity or GarageBand will work just fine!
