Story of an Info Marketing Bootcamp Attendee

Information Marketing

I’ve got a guy who came to one of the earliest bootcamps. Nice guy. After he left the event I didn’t hear much from him. There was a lot of work to do and I had expected some questions.

NONE were forthcoming.

As it turns out, he had gotten “sidetracked” with some interesting offers from a number of the GURUS promising he would make BIG BUCKS if only he bought their product.

Early on, he told me about what he was buying and how rich he was going to become. Then I stopped hearing from him.

He had not yet learned, that in the VAST MAJORITY of cases, the only person making the big bucks are the gurus who promote the products. NOT the people who buy them in HOPES of getting rich.

In my most recent 3 emails to this individual I’ve gotten no response. Why? Probably because he’s embarrassed. I had told him that this was going to happen. He didn’t listen to me. He did it anyway. I was right and he felt bad.

Has this happened to you? If so, you’re not alone.

You’re seduced by a slick copywriter who makes you feel like the only thing between you and a BAG OF CASH is this or that guru’s product.

But, at the end of the day, the GURU is the only one who makes any real money. Why? Because the SYSTEM that the guru is selling doesn’t really work. He/she doesn’t give you all the parts.

Frequently you get frustrated and give up.

Again, you are not alone.

This is the reason I started changing my events to make SURE that people left with something of real value. It just wasn’t fair to them.

I have two recommendations for you:

1. Don’t attend events or buy products from people who won’t really show you how to do things. Make sure and ask a lot of questions before you shell out any money to attend.

2. If you do events, make sure that people leave with a specific how-to plan or they will be angry at you. AND, never buy from you again.

Thank you for this post.. Bob Bly and you seem to be some of the select few who really tell people how to make things work instead of just profiting off of your students. Your candor and work are much appreciated!

Got something to say?
