A couple of weekends ago, I did a 2 day info product seminar. One of the guys at the event was a really great guy named John Soares.
John is a former university professor who is an avid hiker. His site is:
John took some GREAT notes at the event. He’s graciously allowed me to make those notes (with some minor changes) available to you.

Ask yourself the question: What do you really want your business to look like?
When you give yourself an answer then ask the next question: And Why do I want that?
When you get that answer, then ask the Why do you want that – question again. Keep going.
Here is what you will probably discover. The progression will probably go like this:
Q: What do you really want your business to look like?
A: I want to make a lot of money so I can travel.
Q: Why do you want to make a lot of money and travel?
A: So I can do what I want with my life.
Q: Why do you want your life to look like that?
A: So I can feel free from the cares of “normal” life.
Q: Why do you want to feel free from those cares?
A: Because it makes me feel really good about myself.
Q; And why do you want to feel good about yourself?
A: Because it makes me HAPPY.
It was actually pretty tough for me to go that long because for me, I IMMEDIATELY jump to the last answer.
In Tal Ben Shahar’s book, Happier, which I’ve mentioned to you before, he uses a quote from Aristotle:
“Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existences.”
That being the case, I was confused at a recent event that I spoke at. I implored everyone to buy Tal’s book.
I told them if they wanted to be info marketers they would first have to figure out their motivation for work in general. Although I didn’t ask them to do the exercise above, I skipped to the conclusion.
Maybe that was MY fault.
It’s been a while since that presentation and NO ONE has gotten back to me telling me how amazing they found the book to be. Good chance they didn’t read it yet.
If EVERYTHING you do is geared towards making you HAPPIER, then why not spend some time studying what that really is and what it means?
Can I Get YOUR Help?
I’d like to ask you a favor. I’m doing a 2 day event before the Book Expo in NYC coming up in May. You can find all the details at:
