Avish: Alright, so we have a domain name now and now we have a hosting account. The next step is to actually build the website. And your opinion is there are two choices you have and you need to decide which one.
Fred: Yeah, the two choices you have at this point are, number one, are you going to be doing this, putting up the website yourself? That’s choice number one. Or number two is, are you going to have and hire someone to do it for you. And I think that’s a really important decision to make because some of the people who are reading or listening to this are extremely web savvy. And either on their own or with some help from somebody called like, Lynda.com, where you can get some good WordPress training, you could learn how to do all of this yourself. Now, so if you’re reading or listening to this, you have to ask yourself a question: Are you the kind of person who feels technically competent and you’re pretty good with computers and you could do it yourself? And if you’re not, then use the other option, obviously. So, I think that, that’s important, don’t you Avish?
Avish: Yeah absolutely and I think the other element to that is regardless of your technical ability is, ask yourself, do you have more money than time or do you have more time than money.
Fred: Yeah, I think that’s, that is the right question to ask. And say for example, somebody like you, who is a U Penn graduate, an Ivy League school, in computer science. Someone like you can definitely put up your own sites because that’s your background. You know how to do that kind of thing. However, even if somebody listening has a similar background or something that’s, somebody who’s really pretty web savvy and has a good time, an easy time with these kinds of things, the thing to really look at is long term.
First off, everyone should try and do it themselves to start. That’s always a good thing to do. Even and no matter what your pool of expertise is. So if you’re listening to this program or reading this, I would recommend that you try and figure out how to do WordPress installations yourself because after you do them, you may find you know what, that wasn’t as hard as I thought. Or you may find out, you know what, I really shouldn’t be doing this. But even if you’re really, really good technically, over time it—you’re right—it won’t be the best use of your time to be doing your web related stuff. Your best time will be spent creating more products and driving more traffic.
Avish: Okay, so, let’s say that you are; well let’s go through both of the choices. Let’s say you do it yourself, how do you go about getting started or what should you do?
Fred: Okay, in order to get started, the first thing you need to know is, number one, you’re going to be using WordPress sites. And so you’ve got your domain name, you’ve got your hosting; now you’ve got to install WordPress into the cool hosting tool account. And then you’ve probably got to do a lot of the things related to WordPress. So the first thing you’ll want to do, is you’ll want to get some good WordPress training. If you go on YouTube and you put in there, WordPress training, you’ll find a ton of people who have done some, some of them very good videos, on how to put together WordPress sites. So, I would start with YouTube training, and then if you need to really understand it more if that’s not sufficient for you, go to Lynda.com and for twenty-five bucks a month, you can figure out exactly how to get the WordPress site up. Now again, if you’re not very technically inclined going through this information will only make you more certain that you need help. But try it yourself and see because then, even after you get help, you’ll know what you’re paying for and you’ll know what those people that you’re paying for the help are doing.
Avish: Okay, that makes sense. So let’s just say that you’ve done that for a bit and now you’ve decided that it’s worth your money to have someone else do it.
Fred: Yeah. Now, here’s the next thing. So now you’ve decided that you’re not going to do it yourself. You’re going to have someone else do it. So you have obviously the choice there is where, the real question there is where do I find someone to do this for me? And the answer is that I have only one recommendation here because there’s really, at this point, only one person I trust in this area. His name is Dave Hamilton and he’s what we call the Web Marketing Magician. And he can be found at webmarketingmagician.com or you can also go to authoritysites101.com. Now authoritysites101.com is specifically a site that talks about authority sites. But he can help you create your authority sites, your squeeze page sites and your sales letter sites, all of them. But that just happens to be sort of his main site talking about authority sites because he has created a, what’s called a template, that you can use and again, It’ll save you, you’ll get a really good looking authority site using his template for a lot less money than it would take for you to do all the components that he’s done for you.
Avish: So if you want to have someone else do it, you can hire anyone. You can hire your nephew’s best friend, but the only person that you recommend that you know will do a good job and create these kind of sites that you’re talking about is Dave Hamilton, the Web Marketing Magician?
Fred: Yeah, and the thing about it is Avish, is by bringing up, if you decide to hire your nephew’s cousin or whoever, you’re going to end up with someone who may or may not, number one, know what they’re doing; number two, have your best interests at heart and try and get things done as quickly and as easily as possible for you and the way it’s supposed to be done. So if you hire someone else, like I say, you’re on your own. If you hire Dave Hamilton, I put my reputation behind his and feel very, very comfortable recommending him to anyone who listens to or reads this problem.
Avish: Well okay, that’s great Fred.
