First, a story. A number of years back I was at an NSA conference. I’m no longer a member, but the story is pretty amusing. A VERY well known professional speaker and buddy of mine and I were standing at the back. He points to a VERY well known “best-selling” author.

He says to me: “You know MR. X made over $4,000,000 last year?” I think he expected me to be in AWE of the information he just gave me. I wasn’t. My comment was: What does is matter? He’s an A**hole!

Some people who sell info products are missing the point of this entire EXERCISE known as LIFE. The point is to have fun doing what you do. Make money. Make friends. Understand your meaning and purpose.

Yeah, the money is great. But if all someone can say about you when they look at you from afar is: “Yeah, he makes $X, but he’s an a**hole.” This is a problem.

Someone recently asked me what my biggest asset was in my business. It took me NO time answer: My REPUTATION!

There are a lot of well known speakers and authors who make a lot of money. There are a lot of a**holes. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to BE or HANG OUT WITH people who fall into that category. I don’t care how much money they make.

I’m at some point soon going to visit a friend of a friend here in town who is a BILLIONAIRE. Yes, with a B. As he told me about our visit to see him (which had to be rescheduled), he told me something VERY interesting about him. He said to me: “I want you to meet this guy because he’s a billionaire. More importantly, he’ll inspire you. You know how? After you meet him you’ll say exactly what I said. If this guy is a BILLIONAIRE, anyone can be a billionaire.”

Making money doesn’t take a genius. Best selling authors are often MORONS. I personally don’t want to spend time with either group unless they are the kind of people I want over to my house for dinner.

So, don’t be in awe of anyone who either writes best sellers or makes big money. Be in AWE of those who others look at and say: “He’s a REALLY good guy. That guy’s reputation is impeccable.” The other kind of person, don’t introduce them to me. Don’t tell me about their website. Don’t tell me about the number of books they’ve sold.

I don’t care if they are A**HOLES!

    I am a big fan of your work.
    But I gotta say it… your website is not very user-friendly. Anytime someone goes to your blog page, all they get is your latest blog post… there is no link to a “previous” post, or a page of categories, and your archives aren’t as accessible as they could be.

    I want to learn more about what you have to say, but I’m not willing to spend 4 minutes trying to find it.

    Interesting. As a “big fan” I would have expected to get at LEAST 4 minutes of your time. Sorry about that. More to the point, I LIKE making people have to search for my content. There is plenty of it.
