Brett Favre is playing football. AGAIN! Everyone who is involved in selling info products or is in anyway involved in information marketing should TAKE NOTE! Favre is playing football because he wants to WIN. It is CLEARLY not about the MONEY.

The vast majority of information marketing gurus concentrate on seducing people with how much money you can make. For me, I’m like Brett. It’s NOT about the money. It’s about winning. I HATE to lose. I LOVE doing something so well that people look at me and say: “He’s a great info marketer.”

Earlier this week I spoke about the difference between being Great and being GREAT. I won’t rehash that philosophical argument.

Whether it’s Sir John Templeton in investing, John Wooden in football, Sir Richard Branson in music/airlines, etc., all of them want to PLAY the GAME. The money becomes incidental.

Why do so many people TRY selling info products and then drop out? Because they are driven by the desire to make money, not by PASSION. Passion driven work will get you a WHOLE LOT farther than money. It’s like mercenaries. If you get paid to fight, you’re NOTHING compared to people who are fighting for the LOVE of their COUNTRY.

So, as I watch Favre speak live on ESPN while I’m writing this post, I think about how people approach the business I’m in. There are so many people who fall by the wayside in this business because their motivation is misplaced.

I’m not saying that money is UNimportant. It’s not. But, it shouldn’t be your PRIMARY motivator.

UNFORTUNATELY, virtually EVERY info marketing “guru” out there cares almost exclusively about the money. I can’t relate. I don’t understand these folks. When I’m in a room with them I feel uncomfortable. I can FEEL their motivation and it always feels WRONG.

I’d like to spend time in a room hanging out with Brett Favre instead. He is the kind of person I want to emulate. NOT some mercenary, whether they are in this field, sports or any other.

The other motivator for Favre seems to be the desire to help his teammates. To help them (possibly) win a Super Bowl. Just imagine some info marketer doing something for “their people”! HA! The VAST majority of these folks are more selfish than any Hollywood prima donna actor.

As you can see, I have a LOT of respect for the majority of the folks in this field. HA! They worship at the altar of CASH. Cash is their king. For Brett Favre, cash is probably LAST on his list.

    How do you balance the necessity between a raise in prices for your services and the ability to maintain your Passion for what you do?

    Other specialists in Info Marketing also say that Passion should be uppermost however, they also comment that most small business owners do not value themselves or their service. They should raise the price of their products or service and furthermore be proud of their prices. This is the money bit, it’s also the bit that undermines confidence in selling when potential customers make price their main excuse for not buying.

    Eddie, the prices you charge for products and services are dependent ALMOST exclusively on market demand. The SELECTION of a niche to work in MUST be dictated FIRST by Passion. There are many info marketers who work in a niche AND bring in income from other sources because they niche where there passion lies doesn’t produce enough revenue for them. But, at least they are ENJOYING what they do!
