Facebook and MY Information Marketing Results
I’ve talked about Facebook and how information marketers should use it. Now, I’d like to share some results. Back in March I had someone attend one of my workshops. We got into a discussion of whether or not Facebook was an effective marketing tool for seminars and bootcamps.
My contention was no. The attendee at my event said yes. So, I wanted to get some objective data to determine who was right. I wasn’t hoping I was right or wrong. I just wanted to know the truth. For me and my marketing efforts.
It’s now been over 4 months since the test began. There have been over 150 clicks from Facebook. There have been NO sign ups. I wish I could give you different results. I WISH Facebook was pulling better numbers for me.
It’s not. Maybe I’m doing something wrong.
I do know one thing. Every time I post something of a personal nature on FB, I get tons of comments. When I post anything that’s business related, I get NOTHING. NADA!
Is this somehow my fault? Am I doing something wrong? If so, someone help me out here. I don’t want to be the only person who sells information products NOT making proper use of this great social networking tool!
I’d LIKE for Facebook to work to promote my seminars and events. ALAS, I can’t tell you it does. I can’t MAKE UP numbers. The DATA that I have says it isn’t working . . . for me.
I can also tell you a trend I see on Facebook. Everyone is OBSESSED with trying to get as many friends as they can. I’m guilty of it myself. If the system tells me to consider someone as a friend, I’ll ask them. Even if I have NO IDEA who they are.
I’ve always taught that the bigger the list the better off you are. I was just following the same path on FB. Inviting as many people as I can to be my friend.
So there you have it. If I have done something wrong, PLEASE tell me. I want YOUR input.
