Writing as an Information Marketer
Yesterday I went by Barnes and Noble. My new Kindle has not yet arrived. If you’re serious about the information marketing business, you need to be reading. A LOT!
I picked up a Stephen King book. Not your typical Stephen King novel. This one is titled: “On Writing”. It’s his book about the CRAFT of writing. How he does it and his suggestions for other writers.
I’m about half way through the book. I’m surprised how GOOD it is. It starts out with a mini-autobiography. King had a very interesting life! And he wasn’t always making huge money from his writing. If you are interested in learning how to write better, this book is a MUST!
It’s not new. It’s copyrighted 2000, but the ideas are timeless.
Here are a few of the GEMS I’ve picked up so far:
“Writing is a lonely job. Having someone who believes in you makes a lot of difference.” How true is this statement!
“Then as now, I go through periods of idleness followed by periods of workaholic frenzy.” Are YOU concerned that you work it SPURTS. Don’t be. It seems to be the same for Stephen King!
“When you write a story, you’re telling yourself the story. When you rewrite your main job is taking out all the things that are not the story.”
“. . . simple sentences provide a path you can follow when you fear getting lost in the tangles of rhetoric.”
I don’t care what niche you’re involved in, if you do any writing at all, this book is a mandatory read. Don’t think you’re a good writer? You can definitely improve. Trust me, I did. This book will help make this possible.
