This 2 day program shows you everything you need to know about starting and building a successful info products business. Nothing is left to chance.
If you have ANY interest whatsoever in the whole field of information marketing, then you need to come to my seminar in Las Vegas. Take a look at: http://www.InfoProductsSeminar.com
I give this seminar a few times a year. It’s a 3 day event and is one of my favorite events to do. The groups are usually small and you’ll be able to get direct contact with myself and other experts in the field.
This time I’m having the internet ‘legend’ Terry Dean speak. He hasn’t spoken at any event for the past 2 years and I’m very much looking forward to seeing him and hearing what he has to say. You’ll gain a LOT from his expertise.
Another late addition: Glen Livingston. Glen is a former consulting client who has now gone on to some really amazing stuff. I just saw a presentation of his on testing and asked him to be a presenter. Lucky for me and everyone who is coming . . . he said YES.
There is an additional mystery guest coming over from the UK. You won’t want to miss what SHE says either.
Don’t miss this event! These are three INCREDIBLE speakers who will be there. A VERY limited number of spaces are left. Sign up now.
Attending a recent seminar I found a few things you may want to do/not do.
MUSIC – I don’t care what kind of music YOU like. If you like listening to Lawrence Welk, you clients may not. This means that when you have music playing at your events, make sure it is at least PALATABLE to your audience.
FIRST SPEAKER – The ‘primacy-recency’ effect in psychology tells us that people remember best what they hear first and what they hear last. That means that your first and last speaker must not just be good but they need to be GREAT.
LIGHTING – Make sure that there is sufficient lighting in a room that you use. If you’re trying to make sure that people can see the screen, get a better projection device rather than lower the lighting level in the room to the point where I can barely see my note paper.
TEMPERATURE – This is a tough one. Controlling temperature is one of the toughest things to do at any event. Hotel air conditioners/heaters have a mind of their own. Make sure and discuss this with the hotel staff BEFORE you start your event. Make sure you know how or who to contact to change the temperature. After lunch, keep it relatively cool regardless of how much people bitch and complain.
PREMIUMS – If you’re trying to fill a room, premiums can help. I have seen high priced seminars give away VERY expensive gifts. They might only break even on the deal but they still end up putting butts in seats. If you know that you or your speakers will sell a boatload of products, then get as many people into the room as possible at break even or more.
Someone asked me for an Email Address
I got an email a couple of weeks ago from a guy who asked me for a friend’s personal email address. I refused.
I then got a very irate email saying basically that I had no right to withhold access to the person’s email address. BS!
I know how much I hate receiving email from people I don’t want to hear from. Why would I give out YOUR email address without getting your permission? Answer? I wouldn’t.
MY 50th Birthday Party
Wherever I have my 50th birthday (oct 23rd of this year) I will be inviting YOU to share it with me. When I make the final decision on where I’ll be I’ll announce it to the list and you’ll be invited to come meet me wherever it may be.
It may be in an exotic part of the world and certainly a few days I’ll want to be alone, but the rest of the time will be a GROUP event.
Watch for more info on this in the next couple of months.
When you sell information products the key is to be able to acquire customers at or ABOVE break even. If you average $2 in revenue for ever visitor who comes to your site you need to be paying less than this amount for the click.
Here’s the question: Would you be willing to pay $1/click to get people to opt-in to your list? What if you could generate $1 from each one that you get? If you’re smart, you’ll do this as many times as you can.
Even if you had NO products to sell that you own yourself, you can always get other people’s products to sell to a list that you accumulate.
In information marketing the two key elements are PRODUCTS and LIST. Your long term goal is to get as many of both that you can.
If you build your list effectively, you can always find people with products who will set you up as an affiliate. It’s easier to find people with products when you have a list than vice versa. Long term, you want to have both.
Pay per click is a great way to generate names for you list, but make sure that you never pay more than what you can make from these folks on the ‘front-end’. If you pay $2, make sure you can make that same $2 almost immediately from them (on average) or you’ll go broke.
FYI: Perry Marshall’s event was excellent. I did an interview with Perry a while back. Check out www.TheGoogleExpert.com for more info on him.
Membership Site Software
A few weeks back in USA Today there was an article about membership sites and how popular they are getting. I’ve been singing this tune for the past 2 years. Membership sites WILL BE the next big wave on the internet.
Luckily, I have a great piece of sofware (being perfected) in this area.
Even LUCKIER, I now have a top-notch programmer on board who is helping to improve and enhance this and other software programs.
I got interested in membership sites very intensely after running into a guy who runs: www.TalkinBroadway.com. I was excited to hear that his was the pre-eminent site on the web for all things theatre related. What got me REALLY excited was that as a result of his stature (derived from owning this site) he was invited to the Tony Awards every year.
This got me thinking. As many of you know, I’m a movie buff. No, maybe the better word would be a movie FREAK. I love movies. Understanding that the best thing in my life (other than finding LOOVVE – more on that later) would be getting invited to the Oscars, I decided to start a site.
I came up with www.TalkinHollywood.com. Initially, my sole reason for setting up this site was to get invited to the Oscars.
After talking with the guy who owns TalkinBroadway, I discovered that the software that he was using was a patchwork of various freeware. The backbone of the system was less than adequate for what I wanted to do.
I then went out and started searching for great software to run my membership site. I couldn’t find what I wanted so I went about developing my own.
The software that was INITIALLY developed I NOW find out (from my new genius programmer) was very poorly done. I don’t know how to program, but I know that my programmer does. She said the programming was POOR, to say the least.
www.MemberMember.com is being perfected and will have more features and have a more solid foundation.
Membership sites have two primary models. One is where you get people to pay you a monthly fee to access the content. The other is a site where you can join for free and the revenue is derived from the affiliate relationships that you offer on your site. That’s how TalkinHollywood will make money.
I’ll let you know when it’s ready to go.
Love Online Update
For those of you who have been following the Fred Gleeck relationship saga, it has now moved further ahead. I shared with you my site: www.RU4Fred.com and suggested how you could use a similar site to find YOUR ideal mate.
If you’re single and looking, you need to keep reading.
The idea is to go to the dating sites and then send people that you find interesting to a much more detailed site that reveals a LOT about you and who you are.
The key here is a site that really gives people an accurate picture of who you are. Lay it all out there. Because if you don’t, you’ll get people interested in someone who isn’t really you.
In my case, a person I met on eharmony was sent to this site after I looked at her profile and felt we were a good match. I had sent about 30 people to that site before I found ‘the one.’
When I was sent the match, I went to eharmony and looked at her profile. First, she had a picture. That’s always encouraging. If they don’t have a picture, there’s a problem. Then, I sent her an email saying that I was interested and that she should go to my site listed above.
After she went to the site, she responded with a 3 1/2 page email. She went through my entire 12 page site and commented on all the issues that I brought up on my site.
We then spoke twice the next day (Dec 31st). She was then willing to drive to Las Vegas (4-5 hours) to see me. We’ve been together ever since.
Your action point? If you’re serious about finding a mate, put together a site like mine and then send people who are of interest to you to that site. Let them ‘screen’ themselves. This way you are operating your love life as efficiently as you should be running your ‘regular’ business.
My New House
If you haven’t seen the movie ‘The Money Pit’ you need to go rent it immediately. It’s the story of how renovating a house can put you into MAJOR debt.
In my case, the house is new. The problem is all the stuff you have to do to make your house a HOME. In my case, I wanted to make my house a retreat. I have virtually every relaxation device known to man. If it’s not in the house yet, it’s on order.
Let me say to start that it’s really difficult for me to spend money on anything. That being said, it’s a bit easier for me to spend money on the house when it will increase its value over time.
But I also feel that you need to have the things in a house that you really want. In my case, that came down to a few essential elements. I now have a full gym as well as a pool table in my garage. I wanted both of these. No cars will ever be parked in the garage.
In my ‘old’ house I had a Jacuzzi AND a pool. In over 7 years I used my pool less than 20 times. I used the Jacuzzi (when it was relatively cool) about 5-6 times a week!
At the new house I’ve got a Jacuzzi AND what is called a SWIM SPA. The Jacuzzi you know about, the swim spa is a large Jacuzzi that has a motor that allows you to swim against the current. This is a tremendous aeroblc exercise machine.
As a movie buff, I also created a KILLER movie room. It’s got the big 8 foot screen and an amazing sound system.
That’s why, when people come to my house as a coaching client, they never want to leave. Very expensive for them!
I’m hoping that you get a chance to come over when you attend a seminar. I always have a party at my house on the final night.
This house is possible courtesy of YOU, my customers. If you’re ever in Las Vegas, give me a call. If I’m around, come by and watch a movie!
See you next time,
PS – If you’re an NSA (National Speakers Association) member, I’ll have 3 hours at the national convention on July 22nd in Orlando this year).
