Information Marketing and “Consult with Me” Sites
Information marketing is all about getting people into your funnel. Once in your funnel, the goal is to upsell people to higher and higher priced products and services. No matter what type of kind of information products you sell, this is TRUE.
In order to get people into your funnel initially, it’s imperative that you give away some great, high quality material. Some of that material should be in audio form, some of it text and some of it video. Why? Because different people have different preferences as to what form they want their information to be in.
I myself prefer to learn using audio. BUT, that’s just me.
Once someone has entered your funnel, it is also essential that you provide them with a way to CONSULT with you. If someone doesn’t know who you are, I suggest you give them a relatively low priced option to get started.
In my case, I use ConsultWithFred.com for this purpose.
If it’s still available, I would suggest that you reserve a similar domain name with your name on the end of it. If that’s not available, I suggest you use the same format but put both your first and last name on the end of the domain name.
ConsultWithFredGleeck.com would be mine. Since ConsultWithFred.com was available “way back when” all I needed to reserve was the one with my first name.
It’s always better if the domain name you reserve for this purpose is easy to remember and spell. BUT, most people will click on that domain as a result of a link they find either on your site or in an email that you send them.
Whenever anyone approaches you to do some coaching or consulting work, I suggest you have a standard email response ready to be fired off the minute is comes in. This should tell the person that you’re delighted to meet with them either on the phone or in person (if you feel comfortable offering this option).
I’ve recently changed my pricing to make it easier for people to do coaching/consulting work with me. I used to give people no other option other than 90 minutes for $500. I’ve since changed the prices to $100 for 20 minutes. This is a slight decrease in the hourly rate. It used to be $333. It is now $300.
I did this for two reasons. First, I wanted to make the number low enough that more people would take advantage of this deal. I find that when I do any type of work with people over the phone, there is a HIGH likelihood they will buy other products and services from me.
I also find that when I do this work FACE to FACE, that percentage increases. That’s why it makes sense for me to meet with people in person. I suggest you TEST the same format and process.
Another reason I adjusted the pricing is the economy. Most people have become a LOT more careful about where and on what they spend their money. I wanted to make it easy for them to give me $100. I suggest you follow my lead.
AND, of course, I would prefer that you reserve your domains at UltraCheapDomains.com.
