PASSION Based vs. MONEY Based Blogging for Information Marketers
I get a HUGE kick out of watching my competitors in the information marketing field. Some of them are very well known entities who have been a round for as long as I have. I know I must really piss them off!
Why? Because the VAST majority of these folks (many of whom I have met personally) don’t really LIKE people or CUSTOMERS. For them this is just a MONEY game. They could have been just as happy (or happier) as investment bankers as long as they made a lot of cash.
Not true here. I like the field and very much enjoy my customers! Very different from MANY of my competitors!! I have actually HEARD, with my own ears, conversations where some of these “bigshots” have expressed DISDAIN for their customers.
So why do I piss these guys off?
Because I’m not at all like them. I am blogging like a maniac and getting stellar SEO results because I really LIKE what I’m doing. I’m writing this blog post at 2:34AM on what is NOW, Monday morning. Why? Because it’s fun.
It’s really tough to compete against someone like me because I’m not doing it PRIMARILY for the money. As a result, I have absolutely NO problem putting in the time and doing the things that are necessary to get and keep me at the top.
This is why my competitors get annoyed. I LOVE it. It’s fun to compete. Particularly when you are doing it for FUN. If this WAS all about the money for me, I WOULD have been an investment banker. I went to a “fancy pants” graduate school and many of the folks I studied with are in the field.
Many HATING it, by the way!
