Todd Wasserman posted on Mashable this week on the topic of building your information marketing brand socially. He asks and answers the following:
“Do you follow a brand in social media? Are you glad you did? If that’s the case, they are either doing one of three things:
Connecting with one of your passions and/or interests.
Entertaining you with their engaging personality.
Providing interesting and/or important information to you. “
This is pretty basic thinking, and in my opinion it’s right on the mark. My own question to you is pretty much the same, which is, “What attracts you?” I would like you to set aside the “making money online” idea and answer the question without that consideration. What ELSE attracts you personally?
After you really think about it, and make some notes, then see if Wasserman’s three points listed above are right on the mark for you, too. If one of them hits home, then focus on that one for building your own information marketing brand as well.
I’m going to focus on the “engaging personality” magnet for a moment. How are you doing on that one? Have you received any feedback from clients that helps you understand how you come across to others, especially in the context of your speaking, consulting and coaching?
I can tell you how I come across, because my clients tell me. I am intense. Yup, that’s my personality, so I use it for my own benefit and also to benefit others. It has worked for me a long time, and once you get in the groove with your own magnetic knowledge, personality and personal interests, those are the things that will attract your info product customers, too.
